Six months old, four legs, absolutely no plan. He got up three steps, realised he had no idea how to reverse, and sat down to think about it. He thought about it for a full minute while I filmed. Then he shouted at me until I carried him down. We have since practised eight more times. He now goes up confidently and still refuses to come down. Any tips gratefully received — preferably ones that do not involve me carrying a retriever downstairs for the next decade.
